SPM laboratory

Our main scanning probe laboratory consists of two independent air-conditioned 3GHz Faraday cages providing a clean acoustic and electromagnetic environment. The operator is seated outside the cage during experiments. Gases and other supplies are located in a small corridor between the two cages. Each Faraday cage has separate nitrogen and helium pumping lines which are evacuated by two large roughing pumps located in an underground service corridor.
