Switzerland winds up superconductivity

Published on 11 June 2016

The Group of Applied Superconductivity at UNIGE and the R&D team of Bruker BioSpin in Zürich successfully developed and tested a REBCO insert coil able to generate a field increase of  4 T in a background field of 21 T, corresponding to a generation of a total field of 25 T. This is the highest magnetic field reached with a superconducting magnet at the European academic facilities.
