Dr Bernat Mundet

In early 2019, just after finishing my phD at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona, I moved to Switzerland where I started as a Post-doc in Prof. Triscone’s group. Before this, I obtained my undergraduate degree in Physics and a master’s degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the University of Barcelona (UB).

Although I am not a very talented photographer, things change when electrons enter into the playground. I like to use them to acquire atomic resolution images of perovskite oxide heterostructures and to extract other relevant information about their chemical and electronic properties. Since the closest microscope is located at EPFL (Lausanne), I also work there regularly in collaboration with D.T.L. Alexander.

Outside the lab I like to go to the mountains with my van, doing outdoor activities such as climbing, hiking, alpinism, ski touring… Is there any better place for this than Switzerland?
