Powder Diffraction

PANalytical Empyrean

Powder diffractometer with Kα1 monochromator for measurements in both reflection (flat plate sample) and transmission (capillary) geometry. Built in elliptical mirrors provide good intensities due to beam focussing for transmission measurements. Samples in capillaries can me measured between 500 K and cryogenic temperatures (90 K, liquid N2) with an Oxford Cryostream attachment. Maximum temperatures of approximately 900 K can be reached in transmission mode using a hot air blower. Automatic sample changers allow for fully atomized measurements of up to 45 samples. Additionally, we have sample holders for small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), which we are commonly using for nanoparticles or liquid crystals.

Single crystal diffraction

Rigaku XTaLAB Synergy-S diffractometer

4-circle single crystal diffractometer equipped with a dual microsource allowing to switch between Cu- and Mo-radiation and a curved photon counting X-ray detector (RIGAKU Hypix arc 150) A liquid nitrogen cryostream provides a temperature range of 80-500K.

Agilent SUPER NOVA

4-circle single crystal diffractometer equipped with a dual microsource allowing to switch between Cu- and Mo-radiation and a CCD camera for data recording. A liquid nitrogen cryostream provides a temperature range of 90-280 K.

Laue Camera

The Laue camera works with a two-dimensional gas detector (MWL) and is used both for checking the sample quality of large single crystals as well as for precise orientation along crystallographic directions, necessary for the determination of anisotropic physical properties.
