The research group of Prof. Dr. Fabian von Rohr at the Department of Quantum Matter Physics offers a PhD position (3-5 years) in the field of Discovery of Quantum Materials.
The successful candidate will work on the discovery of new compounds, phases, and materials, the development of improved synthesis procedures in order to access complex compounds, and the understanding of the structure-property relationship of quantum materials, such as superconductors and topological materials. During this highly interdisciplinary research, the successful candidate will focus on the synthetic aspects of new materials, but also be involved in physical properties measurements. He/She will be closely working with national and international collaborators.
Applicants should hold, or be close to finishing, a MSc degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, physics, or material science. We encourage applications from self-motivated candidates, who are eager to further improve their skills. Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written) are required. The position will be based in Geneva.
