Antoine Georges international member of the National Academy of Sciences
Congratulations to Antoine Georges who has been elected an international member of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS). The ceremony took place on April 26th, 2024 during the 161th NAS Annual meeting in Washington DC.
Members are elected to the NAS in recognition of their outstanding achievements in original research. Membership is a mark of scientific excellence and is considered one of the highest honor in science.
Antoine Georges is a professor at the DQMP, UNIGE and at the Collège de France. He is the founding director of the Center for Computational Quantum Physics at the Flatiron Institute, Simons Foundation, New York. He is also affiliated with the Ecole Polytechnique in France.
Antoine Georges is a theoretical physicist with a broad range of interests in quantum many-body physics, quantum materials with strong electronic correlations, ultra-cold atomic gases, computational physics and statistical physics. He is a member of the French Academy of Sciences and has received numerous international distinctions such as the 2006 Europhysics Condensed Matter Prize, the Silver Medal of CNRS, the 2014 Hamburg Prize for Theoretical Physics, the 2020 Aneesur Rahman Prize of the American Physical Society and the 2022 Feenberg Memorial Medal for Quantum Many-Body Theory.
